Somewhere in the Indian Ocean… at the idyllic islands of the Maldives, lies a place who claims itself to be ‘A Waking Dream’; and once known, such title makes perfect sense. The dream indeed that is the stunning resort of Huvafen Fushi, located in the North Malé Atoll, has been alive for ten years, and rightfully so, an anniversary-CD release is well worth the occasion.
“Huvafen Fushi Maldives: A Decade by Ravin” comes as a third album from the world-renowned Buddha-Bar Paris DJ dedicated to the site, which along with their dreamy and sophisticated beats, is poised to be host to all sorts of idyllic-bliss.
The set delivered on this occasion follows a similar line to its previous two-sibling albums, where chillout beats provide a smooth and moody vibe well suited to such stunning scenery. Starting with “Cold Hawai” by Troels Hammer, a relaxing start poised to mentally evoke the tranquillity of a Maldivian island, then continued with dreamy chillout tracks, such as “Deva” by Ambray and, “Drive Me Slowly” by Deep.her, before moving onto a smooth ride upbeat.
Still, the similarities with the two-previous albums almost end here, as in this occasion nearly half the set is taken over by a brilliant mix of deep-house tracks that bring out a livelier mood, likely suited to the celebratory occasion. “Sense of You (Original Mix)” by Jay West and Manuel Sahagún is another great addition that blends very well with other brilliant tracks such as the stunning “Herneise (Original Mix)” by Turkey’s Boran Kibil and Mahmut Orhan, and “Miss You” by Beat Les. Wrapping-up the set is V-Sag’s “My Sweet Dream”, a great closing track, whose vocals, drumbeats and gorgeous string arrangements, delivers an intense-yet-emotional ending to this 65-minute album.
A soundtrack worthy of a real-life dreamland that Huvafen Fushi is, it is a safe bet to expect that the dream will remain alive… not just for another decade, but likely for many, many years ahead.
